Keep Your Eye Health - The eye is the window of our soul and it includes the five most important senses of the body. Without eyes, our world will be dark.
Therefore, taking care of the eyes properly is an obligation. Here is an eye care tip from Dr. Jeff Goodhew, an eye doctor at Abbey Eye Care.
Choose sunglasses
UV rays from the sun not only can damage the skin and increase the risk of skin cancer but also can accelerate the arrival of degenerative eye disease. Therefore, wearing sunglasses when outside is something that is required.
In addition, sunglasses are also useful to protect your eyes from dust or other dirt that can cause eye infections.
Often we think, the darker the lens of the glasses, the more protection we can get. That is wrong.
Goodhew said, assessing the protection of sunglasses is not seen from the color of the lens or the price but should buy glasses with certificate label passed the test.
For example, if a product from Australia and New Zealand has a standard AS / NZS label 1067: 2003. Look for a minimum of two lens categories, but preferably three.
Suggestions for those who spend a lot of time in front of computers, tablets and mobile phones
We recommend that you follow the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes, glance in another direction 20 feet (6.1 m) for 20 seconds. This helps to rearrange the eye focus and reduce eye strain.
Bad habits which are often done by many people related to their eye health
According to Goodhew, most people assume that their eyes are perfect if they can see well. However, the 20/20 vision test is just one aspect.
The eye is also a part to see many things about your health. An eye examination may reveal a number of issues, start form diabetes type 2 until eye cancer, due to high blood pressure.
